July Family Day

July 15th Family Day

The RTS Family Day was held on Saturday, 15th July at Holiday Inn, Birmingham Airport.  We were delighted to welcome families to the event.   The day was jam packed and everyone was ready for our full programme.

The programme consisted of speakers, research, Celebration of Achievement and RTS Has Talent, tombola, raffle but one of the most important reasons for our families to attend was talking to each other.  Our events are all about families supporting one another and giving them the opportunity to talk openly about their issues – family to family support.

Thanks has to go to:

Dr Jane Waite, Research Fellow & Clinical Psychologist, Cerebra Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders School of Psychology, University of Birmingham and team

Gavin Prideaux-Williams from GPW Trusts  www.gpwtrusts.co.uk

David Williams from Cerebra  www.cerebra.org.uk

Sheri Riccardi, Human Medical Genetics and Genomics Program, University of Colorado School of Medicine

Another session which will be part of every event is our Celebration of Achievement.  Every small step our RTS individuals make is a major achievement and we want to celebrate this.  Those attending were asked to send in snippets showing the great things being achieved.  This session was a real tear jerker – presenting was so hard but so wonderful – the tissues were flowing.  Can’t wait for the next event and more achievements.

And last but not least our favourite, RTS Has Talent.  Our acts were so good and everyone said that this was just the best.  At the beginning we only had a couple of entries, but in the end we had a tremendous show.  Thank you to everyone that took part.

RTS Sportsman’s Dinner 2016

The Sportsman’s Dinner was held on the evening of 14 October at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, home of the Leeds Rhinos. The event was well supported with around 150 attending.  Once again it was an evening of laughter, good food and great company.  The MC kept everyone in check, well as much as he could, and the speaker had the audience in stitches.

Details of the RTS 2017 event will be published once finalised.
